Au hasard de ses pérégrinations, un moine à la petite vertu va se mettre à suivre une charmante femme lui ayant tapé dans l’œil. Cette dernière, qui est la femme du fabriquant d'or du shogun, accompagne celui-ci en visite dans un temple en province. Mais cela n'effraie pas notre moine qui va malgré tout essayer de la rencontrer pour finalement mettre le nez dans une sombre histoire familiale.
